James sporting his nifty Deloitte "visitor" badge.
Two of the four buildings on Deloitte's compound.
Bleary-eyed we found our suitcase minus the luggage strap but the Maker's Mark we had packed for an expat was still in the suitcase so really that's all that mattered. Anyways, our hotel was lovely, the people were lovely, we spent two days with a relocation expert and visited the International School of Hyderabad where the kids will go, the Children's Hospital (will pay for the deluxe private rooms), the local vet and Q-Mart which is awesome - you can get anything from Old El Paso to Kraft Mac n Cheese (the blue American box, not the red British version), Pyrex, Barbies you name it. So my fears of losing all my fat are now unfounded because I can eat something (in case you didn't know that I loathe Indian food, though I did try some and it wasn't all that bad, my stomach thought differently), so I'll lose some weight if I join the expat gym. I will be going vegetarian though - I made the mistake of ordering a hamburger at the Marriott thinking maybe they'd import ground beef (i.e. cow) from somewhere, but alas I'm not sure what it was and after one bite I sent it away to be replaced by a vegetable panini.
Anyway, I digress even further. The climate was dry (note to self: bring good moisturizer and Saline spray) and reminded me of Arizona. We'll hopefully find a house to rent (done with apartments) and work out all the other logistics. So for now here's some snaps, actually the only photos we took, there wasn't much to see really.
Stay tuned on what happens next. We should know more this week (Jan 8 onwards).
